Code of Conduct
Introduction:
This Code of Conduct is prepared in accordance with the UGC shall apply to the Governing Body, faculty and students of Yashwantrao Chavan School of Social Work, Satara with effect from 1st January 2016.
Code of Conduct for Governing Body
- Provide effective academic and administrative leadership to the institution.
- Decentralization and participative management in institutional practices.
- Fulfill their lawful duties and obligations to government with integrity and loyalty.
- Ensure welfare of staff and students.
- Strictly follow strategy of mobilization and optimal use of funds.
- Respect the rights of staff and students.
- Take responsible action to protect the students and staff from conditions detrimental to health and safety.
- Maintain financial transparency and delivery.
- Make utmost efforts to develop the institution in a versatile manner.
- Keep the interest of institution above personal.
- Take responsible action to maintain educational ambience.
Code of Conduct for Principal:
- Principal shall conduct himself/herself with dignity and decorum in his/her dealings fairly with management, staff and students.
- Principal shall discharge his/her duty efficiently and diligently to match with academic standards and performance norms laid by college management and Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
- Principal shall assume responsibility and accountability for his/her performance.
- Principal shall acknowledge and respect the uniqueness, individuality and specific needs of pupils and promote their holistic development.
- Principal shall maintain good moral character.
- Principal shall avoid all open confrontation of whatever nature.
- Principal shall make concerted efforts to communicate to parents all information which should be revealed in interest of students.
- Principal shall not fake records or direct others to do so.
- Principal shall not knowingly misappropriate, divert or use money, property or equipment committed to his charge for personal advantage.
- Principal shall not reveal confidential information unless required by law.
Code of Conduct for Teachers:
- Every teacher shall conduct himself/herself with dignity and decorum in his/her dealings with superiors, colleagues and students.
- Every teacher shall discharge his/her duty efficiently and diligently to match with academic standards and performance norms laid by college management and Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
- Every teacher shall update his/ her knowledge and skills to equip himself / herself professionally for proper discharge of duties assigned to her/him.
- Every teacher must report on duty on time as per working hours prescribed.
- Teachers should maintain good moral character.
- Teachers should acknowledge and respect the uniqueness, individuality and specific needs of students and promote their holistic development.
- Every teacher shall avoid open confrontation of whatever nature.
- No teacher shall associate with any political party or take part in any organizational activity which is not in line with ethics of teaching profession.
- Every teacher shall keep all records accurate and up to date.
- Every teacher shall treat colleagues with courtesy and professional equals regardless of their status.
- Every teacher shall demonstrate patriotism and appreciation of freedom with responsibility.
- No teacher shall absent himself/herself from duty at any time without permission of higher ups.
- Respect the confidentiality of information about a student unless required by law.
- Do not discriminate on grounds of race, religion, gender, color or creed.
- Strive for consistency and firmness in disciplinary dealings with students.
Code of Conduct for Support Staff
- Loyalty to college by being punctual and reliable in all duties.
- Maintain integrity by being honest in words and action.
- Treat students with care and kindness.
- Be supportive and cooperate with staff members.
- Refrain from passing any information pertaining to college to any individual or agency.
- Wear uniform provided by management.
- Exercise self discipline and restrain at all times and deal politely with staff, students and general public.
- Must not remain absent from duty without official approval.
- Avoid unethical practices and not to do anything that will tarnish the image of college.
- Notify to the principal immediately if there is reasonable cause to suspect that student is likely to be harmed.
- Practice alcohol and drug free lifestyle.
- Non teaching staff working in laboratory and library should maintain stock register.
Code of Conduct for Students
- Every student should understand that they have joined social work programme to become Professional Social Workers and accordingly they should do their career planning in consultation with Teachers, Principal and Alumni.
- Good behaviour and dignified dressing in keeping with professional decorum are institutional requirements for students.
- Interact with all members of college community with politeness and courtesy.
- Respect differences in relation to gender, race, nationality, disability and religion.
- Be ambassadors of YCSSW.
- User facilities like books, equipments and resources provided to assist you in a careful and responsible manner.
- Seminars, class and home assignments, internal examinations, Curricular, Co-curricular and Extracurricular activities are compulsory for all students.
- No student should use intoxicating substances (alcohol, drugs, tobacco, etc.) when in the College or on the premises of their respective Fieldwork agencies.
- All students are expected to be in their classrooms before the teacher arrives.
- Courtesy visits to other Fieldwork agencies are not permited.
- Use of mobile phones and receiving visitors are not permitted on campus during College hours.
- It is the responsibility of students to see to it that their classrooms and the campus remain clean.
- Students are expected to take care of College property and see to it that no damage is caused to them.
- For satisfactory academic performance, students are expected to secure at least 40 per cent marks in all internal assignments.
- Students are expected to actively participate in all curricular and co-curricular activities organised by the College.
- All matters related to indiscipline shall be referred to the Disciplinary Committee.
- Announcements of any kind to be made in class will be allowed only with the written permission of the Principal.
- Grievances regarding any issue should be first discussed with the Grievance Redressal Committee.
- On campus and in their respective Fieldwork agencies, students are expected to be role models by conducting themselves in a way that brings honour, dignity and credit to the Institute and the Social Work profession.
- Loss of ID card must be intimated to the Institute immediately.
