YCSSW is run under the trusteeship of Bhartiya Bhatke Vimukta Vikas va Sanshodhan Sanstha (BBVVSS), Satara, Maharashtra. The main objective of BBVVSSS is to promote development of the neglected and deprived primitive, de-notified and nomadic tribes in India, particularly, in Maharashtra. The Institute has conducted a number of researches, seminars and workshops to highlight the plight of these Tribal’s in association with Indian Council of Social Science Research, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara; Shivaji University, Kolhapur; Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai etc.
With a view to train students in professional Social Work, the Trust established Yashwantrao Chavan School of Social Work in 1994. At present this school offers Social Work education at Masters and Bachelors level. Through, Bhartiya Bhatke Vimukt Vikas Va Sanshodhan Sanstha, 8 ashram schools, one Social Work college and two Family Counselling Centres and Two Care and Support Centres "VIHAAN" are being run.
